WILL THE REAL MAYHEM PLAYERS PLEASE STAND UP.

After sergeant Lively had dealt with the Smethwick Sloggers a period of relative peace descended for him, albeit temporarily. During that hiatus we are introduced to Mayhem Players, a travelling theatre group represented within the pages of Black Hearts And Blue devils by one Montague Moran and his lovely companion, Emma Saunders. They have arrived to beg the sergeant's help in advertising around Blackheath their next (ambitious) production, and to express fears about security. It is a light-hearted scene in which I draw upon my experiences in am-dram with - would you believe it? - Mayhem Theatre Company of Halesowen, a very successful, award-winning, team: frequent winners of trophies or outright winners at the Worcester Theatre Festival in bygone years. However, the two Mayhem characters in Black Hearts are completely fictional you will understand...

Pics. attached of the real Mayhem rehearsing. Productions depicted are 'Allo 'Allo, Joining The Club, The Real Inspector Calls (penned by our own "Stephen" Moran), the eurovision satire Goodnight Sarajevo (also Mr. Moran), Mere Mortals (produced and directed by yours truly), and Murder In Play.

Of the above, both Goodnight Sarajevo and Mere Mortals virtually swept the board at Worcester. Murder In Play was in fact a production of Oldbury Rep. but included Mayhem actors: those in the know will recognise the late and much loved and lamented Chris Darque seizing Mark Moran by the lapels!
